Robert Schuman, Luís de Camões, Nicolau Nasoni and Marie Curie will parade through downtown Porto to mark Europe Day, on 9 May, starting at 3pm, next to Torre dos Clérigos.

Europe Day 2019 is celebrated with the annual Open Day in Brussels on 4 May, in Luxembourg on 9 May and in Strasbourg on 19 May.

The Invicta joins cities all across Europe and all over the world in this celebration, and today the city will offer a parade with historic personalities, in the context of the #EUinmyRegion campaign, launched by the European Commission to improve citizen awareness on the projects that have been supported by the European Union in their region.

The parade is promoted by the CCDR-N (Commission for the Coordination of Northern Development), and it is scheduled to start at 3pm, next to the Torre dos Clérigos. It will be led by the historic figure of Jean-Baptiste Nicolas Robert Schuman, a Luxembourg-born French statesman, who was an independent political thinker and activist. Schuman was twice Prime Minister of France, a reformist Minister of Finance and a Foreign Minister, and he was instrumental in building post-war European and trans-Atlantic institutions. He was also one of the founders of the European Union, the Council of Europe and NATO.

The historic personalities will depart from Clérigos Tower, will head to Lello Bookstore and then to the Rectory of the University of Porto.
