Casa da Música and Global Platform for Syrian Students jointly organise a concert of solidarity for Syrian students on 4 February, starting at 6 pm.

Pianists Mário Laginha and Pedro Burmester will take the stage at Sala Suggia, in Casa da Música, to raise funds to the Global Platform for Syrian Students, aimed particularly at providing emergency assistance to these students, who have been prevented of pursuing their university education on account of war.

The raised amount (ticket price is 30 euros) is intended to finance student's tuition fees and stays, as well as assisting them with their training, so that they will be able to help rebuild their own country in the future.

The concert's repertoire consists of the Concerto for Two Pianos by Mário Laginha and transcripts of iconic pieces by Piazzolla, Debussy and Ravel.

Both pianists, who will also be on stage at Casa da Música on 3 February, will generously participate in this fund raising initiative, as Casa da Música enhances.

The event shines a spotlight on the importance of building a society with equal opportunities for all and highlights the role artists play in engaging people in positive change.

A Global Platform for Syrian Students is a non-profit organisation, established in 2013 by former Portuguese President of the Portuguese Republic, Jorge Sampaio and it is also supported by the European Council.
