Spring was rather grim, with the lockdown rule due to the pandemic; but, summer is a different story, with outdoor events in parks and gardens to enliven spirits.

One of such not to miss outdoor event is the Bossa Nova and "Choro" performance at Casa de São Roque, in the parish of Campanhã, on 29th August, which adapted to the current pandemic scenario, and organises outdoor cultural activities in compliance with preventive health measures, such as book presentations, wine tastings and live music sessions.

This Saturday, 29th August, Casa de São Roque hosts a Bossa Nova "Choro" (a new Brazilian music genre), during the afternoon and till day light fades.

Entrance is free and those interested are invited to take a blanket to sit comfortably in the gardens, adjacent to the Casa de São Roque and go along with the Bossa Nova concert, which was developed and popularized in the 1950s and 1960s and is today one of the best-known Brazilian music styles abroad.

Access is free, however participants are welcomed to make a voluntary contribution to the musicians (whatever the amount).

The organisation reserves the right to not allow entrance to the facilities when limited capacity is reached. The event is organised in compliance with the health measures issued by the DGS.

It is worth mentionning that the Palace Ramos Pinto, aka Casa São Roque, was once derelict and in ruins, until Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira decided it was time to renovate such a splendid space and open it to the community for the sake of art and the pursuit of public happiness.

The building dates from the 18th century, and its garden goes hand-in-hand with the Parque of São Roque; now it houses the newest Contemporary Art Centre in Porto.
