The Serralves Foundation, with the support of Lipor, showcases, once again, the biodiversity of its Park, in its 7th edition, which takes place from 31 May to 6 June.

The Bioblitz educational and scientific event stimulates environmental awareness and promotes behavioural changes, while sharing knowledge on the fauna and flora of the Serralves Park. This edition starts today, 31 may and it runs until 4 June, in an online format for schools and in-person for the general audiences on 5 and 6 June.

Still following health preventive measures regarding the ongoing pandemic, the 2021 edition is presented in an online format, both for schools and general public, and it features educational workshops, field trips, thematic visits and performances. The main purpose is to promote awareness within the community toward the importance of biodiversity, namely its intrinsic value in our world by pursuing methodological, scientific, artistic and cultural approaches to build a contemporary sustainable narrative, one that is inspired by the Goal for Sustainable Development of the 2030 Agenda: to protect terrestrial ecosystems.

Porto City Hall collaborates in this initiative with Lipor, namely participating in the Online Talk Cycle “Lipor Municipalities and Biodiversity”, jointly with the Municipality of Póvoa de Varzim, on 2 June, between 6 pm and 7.30 pm. The cycle’s outlining goal is to present the several projects by each municipality as regards the promotion of urban biodiversity.

In addition, the Municipality of Porto will provide a video selection of the environment Education programmes “De binóculos no sofá” and “Biodiversidade em casa”, to add to the school’s own digital resources regarding the “programa escolas” platform for teachers, families and the entire school community
