Tourists and visitors can be better informed and guarantee consumers suitable protection of their rights as of today, 12 July.

DECO, Portuguese Association for Consumer Protection, has released an app for providing useful information and receiving complaints from tourists in Porto.

This event took place at Casa do Infante and it allows tourists and visitors to quickly and easily access to information on tourists' rights.

The app was developed by the University of Porto, and targets areas such as accommodation, sightseeing tours, transport, leisure, shopping and restaurants as well as Travel Agencies services, just to name a few.

The "Appy Tourist", as it is called, also provides up to date highlights and access to a live chat specifically dedicated to tourists that visit Porto.

As DECO revealed in a statement: "This is a unique and innovating answer in the context of consumers protection of rights and to the issue of how well tourists are received in the city of Porto".

Porto City Hall joins this initiative as it enables transparent and easy access to relevant information, making sure tourists enjoy a successful stay in Porto.

The app is now available in English, French and Portuguese and can be downloaded for use on iOS and Android platforms. It will shortly be available in German and Spanish.
