On the second Saturday of the month, November 11, visitors to Bombarda will be challenged to draw, illustrate, and glue, but also to participate in a radio forum and a DJ set. All with the aroma of São Martinho (Saint Martin).

Miguel Bombarda's Quarter receives the sixth cycle of Simultaneous Inaugurations in 2023. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be new exhibitions to see in the contemporary art galleries and new collections in the exhibition, commercial and alternative spaces of the area, accompanied by street entertainment programmed by the municipal company Ágora.

In the pedestrian area that crosses the streets of Miguel Bombarda and Boa Nova, the creative workshop "Atividades para massajar a imaginação" will take place between 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., guided by designer and illustrator Catarina Gomes. It will be a kind of “small drawing class”, inspired by the publications “Ideias Despenteadas” and “Livro de atividades para massajar a imaginação”, followed by exercises based on illustrations by the author herself. Aimed at families, but not only, the activity does not require registration. At the end, each participant will take a notebook with all the work done.

In the same area, there will be live radio throughout the afternoon, in charge of Paulo Cunha Martins (specialist in “songs from our popular songbook lost in time” and responsible for the rediscovery of José Pinhal) and the Pimbaú project (formed by Bernardo Machado, Francisca Oliveira and João Kendall, whose objective is to “take the pimba music (country music) out of the trunk and disseminate it online”). After an hour-long first DJ set, around 5 p.m. a programme about Portuguese popular music will be recorded. At 5:45 p.m. there will be a new set, this time open to public intervention. Another radio recording follows, at 6:45 p.m., and from 7:30 p.m. the third and last musical moment is heard.

On the other side of Miguel Bombarda, in the pedestrian zone that intersects Rua de Cedofeita, illustrator and designer Bárbara R. will present the illustration and collage workshop “Cortes e Recortes, liberdade para imaginar um planeta novo”. The activity will also take place between 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., open to families and the general public. Scissors in hand, participants will create faces, looks, people, smiles or mere creatures to complete a new planet with their favourite stories and characters, whether they exist or not.

The afternoon program also includes, as usual, two guided tours of some galleries, led by Visual Arts students from the School of Education of Porto. Those who wish to join must register by 1 p.m. on Friday, November 10, through the email visitaguiadasbombarda@agoraporto.pt, indicating the name and the desired shift (4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. or 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.).

From this Saturday it will also be possible to see in the SCAR-ID space the result of another collaborative workshop, in this case of contemporary ceramics, which took place in the previous edition of the Simultaneous Inaugurations, in September.

As November 11 is Saint Martin's Day, the date will be marked on the block with the offer of roasted chestnuts.
