The latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) features the University of Porto among the universities that have showed the largest scaling in the ranking that assesses the most prestigious Higher Institutions at global level. The University of Porto ranks 295 at world level and, once again, scores first place at national level.

According to the QS World University Ranking 2022, the strengthening of the status of the U.Porto puts the institution among the 122 best universities at European level, compared to over five million universities of 93 countries, as shared by the UP News Portal.

The QS World University Rankings distinguishes the world's top universities based on international academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty and international students.

The highlights regard the rising of the UP in the ranking as regards the average number of citations per professor/researcher (rose 86 positions, ranking 188), also the international academic reputation, ranking 218 among the best in the world, and the ratio employability reputation (355 position) and international students (487 position).

These performances enable the U. Porto to take first place when compared to the different national Higher Institutions within the QS Ranking. At global level, the QS World University Ranking 2022 is, once again, headed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Last March, The University of Porto ranked among the 400 best Universities in the world in 22 study areas, according to the QS World University Rankings in such study areas as Architecture, sports, Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering.
