Lia Rodrigues' show will open the 7th edition of DDD — Festival Dias da Dança. She takes the stage at Rivoli on April 18 and 19, at 7:30 pm. She returns to DDD after, in 2019, having presented "Fúria", at the Teatro Nacional São João.

"Encantado" is inspired by the "encantados", entities that belong to the Afro-Indigenous world, who transit between heaven and earth and transform them into sacred places. These unknown forces are affected by the destruction of forests, rivers and seas.

According to choreographer Lia Rodrigues, this is a "non-Western and non-Eurocentric" view of the world, which "was born from the desire to use magic and enchantment as guides for our creative process".

In a choreography that has 11 performers, it is asked how we can "charm our fears" and get closer to each other.

Lia Rodrigues was a dancer and founded Companhia de Danças in 1990. In 1992, she created the Panorama da Dança festival, which she directed until 2005. She is currently an associate artist at the Théâtre National de Chaillot and the Centquatre-Paris.

Mixing activism and utopia, the choreographer believes in the synergy between art and social processes and now presents her latest creation in the large auditorium of the Rivoli, on April 18 and 19, at 7:30 pm.
