Included in the musical programme of the Museum of Porto, the cycle “O piano romântico: 150 anos de Rachmaninoff” celebrates the work of the Russian composer (1873-1943), on the 150th anniversary of his birth. The Romantic Museum, a place that is part of the Museum of Porto constellation, is the stage for the cycle of recitals, which features artistic direction and commentary by maestro Osvaldo Ferreira.

The cycle began on Saturday with the winner of the 24th Santa Cecília International Competition, Yanjun Chen.

Jed Barahal (cello) and Bernardo Soares (piano) are the protagonists of the second recital, scheduled for next Saturday, March 11th, at 4pm. They will perform musical works by Gaspar Cassadó and Sergei Rachamninoff.

On the 18th, Augusto Trindade (violin) and João Bettencourt da Câmara (piano) will perform themes by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Edvard Grieg. The cycle will be closed in a trio featuring Carolina Frederico (violin), Jed Barahal (cello) and Vasco Dantas (piano).

The cycle’s recitals are free of charge and depend on the venue’s seating capacity. The initiative is organised by the Museum of Porto and by the Portuguese Philharmonic Orchestra.
