Lana del Rey, SZA, Pulp, Mitski, The National, PJ Harvey and Justice lead a lineup that covers the musical range throughout the 48 confirmations of the eleventh edition of the festival which takes place between the 6th and 8th of June, at Parque da Cidade.

A week after announcing the billboard for the Barcelona edition, Primavera Sound Porto, already strongly established as a reference on the European circuit, presents the entire billboard for the next edition. “Wide and eclectic, perfectly tuned in with the philosophy that brought the festival here but enriched with its own characteristics after a decade of mutual influences on Portuguese ground”, thus defines the organization.

A Billboard led in the feminine

Lana del Rey and SZA headline Primavera Sound Porto 2024, the first completely established as the great North American composer of this century; the latter, a generational talent that transcends the R&B limits, acts in June for the first time in Portugal. Both lead a line-up with a predominance of female artists (41,67% women, 39,58% men and 18,75% mixed projects), where Mitski also stands out, who will show that she is much more than a worshiped singer-songwriter, and PJ Harvey, ready to unfold in all the different faces she hides inside her. Furthermore, Pulp will return to stage with their collection of extraordinary anthems and even with a new repertoire, The National will open doors to the music in which we already feel at home, and Justice will lead the party with the authenticity already known from Ed Banger on this return to Parque da Cidade.

A 100% Primavera billboard

Once Shellac have been located, that band that does not play at festivals, but that year after year are present in the Primavera Sound universe, there is no doubt that we are before a 100% Primavera lineup, although this is not the only seal of approval that is given in a list of almost fifty eclectic and transversal names. The 2024 edition will feature sounds of all shapes and styles: from Ethel Cain’s new gothic song to Kim Petras’ fluorescent choruses, from Julie Byrne’s inconstant folk to the polyrhythms of Obongjayar afrobeats roots. The radical pop of Arca, the no-jazz of This Is The Kit, the different paths in rock trailed by Amyl and the Sniffers, Tropical Fuck Storm and Mannequin Pussy, the digital baroque of Eartheater and Lambchop’s universe in its purest version: everything has a place here.

A billboard with hiding places

Although the billboard withholds revelations and discoveries, there are corners with difficult access, where particularly camouflaged musical proposals are hidden. Composer Joanna Sternberg and her homemade ballads. Lankum, a mutant folk band withdrawn from a Celtic fable. Tirzah and her continuous search for glitch. Billywoods, veteran of underground hip-hop used to rhyming at the limits. Wolf Eyes, the sound by Nate Young and John Olson. Lisabö and their relentless post-hardcore. Projects that sail against the current, outsiders that now find their place naturally at Primavera Sound Porto 2024.

Bands for all tastes and profiles

Parque da Cidade will be the perfect setting to assess many artists live, such as: Militarie Gun, Crumb, Scowl, Water From Your Eyes, Royel Otis, The Last Dinner Party or Mandy, Indiana. In this set, the post will be the case of veterans Blonde Redhead, completely reactivated after releasing their first album in almost a decade. The New Yorkers will present "Sit Down for Dinner", their tenth album.

A Portuguese billboard

Each foray into Portuguese territory allows Primavera Sound to get up close and personal with the wide universe that is the Portuguese music, represented on the billboard by Amaura, Ana Lua Caiano, André Henriques, Best Youth, Classe Crua, Conjunto Corona, Expresso Transatlântico, Máquina, Milhanas, mutu, Samuel Úria, Silly, Soluna and Tiago Bettencourt. A window to peak in at contemporary sounds from a country with multiple soundtracks.

At the moment the only tickets available are the 3-day ones, costing 175 euros and the VIP ones, costing 250 euros. They are already available on sale at DICE and the usual places (FNAC, CTT e El Corte Inglês).
