A Brazilian delegation visited Porto to get a closer look at the urban intervention model that the municipality has been developing in the city. The municipal secretaries for Culture and Tourism, Maria Plahtyn, and Communication, Camila Roque, from Paranaguá, in Paraná, were received at the City Hall by the Councillor for Urban Planning, Public Space and Housing.

During the meeting, Pedro Baganha focussed on some of the challenges that the city faced over the last few years, and explained what strategies are being carried out by the municipality to, among other objectives, promote urban rehabilitation and affordable rental for middle-income households.

The councillor also emphasised the work being done to bridge the gap between the western and eastern sides of the city, through synergies that enable the transformation of the territory, combining intangible and structural elements.

The delegation from Paraná was also able to share the example and experience of the municipal urban rehabilitation company, Porto Vivo, SRU, as a World Heritage Site management entity. Factors such as sociological data, urban morphology or legislative dynamics were some of the topics on the table.

On the other side, the Brazilian municipal secretaries were able to explain the main issues currently faced by the city of Paranaguá, such as the housing and transport structural challenges.

Porto Vivo, SRU believes that this 'knowledge sharing is an integral part of an intelligent management model that seeks to promote solutions that enhance the city and its ever better enjoyment'.
