Gastronomy, itineraries and the views over the river place Porto at the top of European cities to visit

The north American magazine Travel + Leisure announced the result of the “World’s Best Awards”, an annual survey that collects its readers’ opinions about travel experiences. Porto is the fifth of the best European cities to visit in 2023, having gone up eight positions when compared to its result last year.

In the 2023 edition of “World’s Best Awards” of Travel + Leisure Magazine, the choices for best European cities were based on the classification of criteria such as touristic interest, culture, food, sympathy, shopping, and value.

Porto’s attractions were once again highlighted by the readers of the north American magazine, who praised the gastronomy, the touristic itineraries, and the views over Rio Douro, having considered the experience of visiting the city memorable. Its climb in the rank is explained by the vast historical and cultural heritage and the good hospitality that characterizes the destination.

The podium is occupied by the cities of Istanbul, Florence, and Rome. In the top 15 of European cities to visit in 2023, other than Porto, cities like Lisbon, Seville, Ljubljana, San Sebastián, Prague, Barcelona, Salzburg, Edinburgh, Madrid, Bordeaux, and Vienna were also chosen.

Almost 165 million magazine readers took part in this survey, which evaluates 13 different categories, between cities, islands, hotels, airlines, etc.
