With musical direction by Javier Bonito, stage direction by Ignacio Garcia and Aurora Cano, and with the Quercus Robur orchestra, Coliseu do Porto hosts "Aida", one of the greatest operas by Giuseppe Verdi.
Premiered in 1871, this four-act opera set in Pharaoh Egypt explores the drama of war in life and love.
"Egyptians invaded Ethiopia. The beautiful Ethiopian princess Aida became a prisoner and slave of the Egyptian princess Amneris. Amonasro, king of Ethiopia and father of Aida, marshaled troops in a final attempt to free his daughter and his people."
