U.Porto leads project to foster students' mobility between Europe and Latin America

The University of Porto was selected by the European Union to lead the Recognition Matters (Rec-Mat) project aimed at promoting students ?mobility between Latin America and Europe and thus contribute to increase the limited recognition of foreign academic diplomas.

The first project meeting was held at Porto Rectory, on a three-day gathering, from March 6 to 8, in which eleven Higher Education Institutions from six European and Latin-American countries joined efforts towards the development of new processes regarding the recognition of academic diplomas.

With a total budget of EUR 650 million, funded by the European Commission through Erasmus+, the Rec-Mat, designed to work on a blended learning component, will involve offices for international relations and academic departments from both sides of the Atlantic.

This preparatory meeting was attended by representatives of 11 institutions that are part of this project, including SGroup European Universities' Network (Belgium), University of Gent (Belgium), University of Lille 3 (France), Universidade de Valladolid (Spain), Universidad Nacional del Litoral e Universidad Nacional del Sur (Argentina), Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho", Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), and also the University of Porto. The AUGM - Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo (Uruguay) and FAUBAI - Associação Brasileira de Educação Internacional are associate partners.
