Today, 23rd September marks the New York Climate Action Summit, where leaders from government, business, and civil society announced "potentially far-reaching steps to confront climate change".

Porto joins the call to action to the decarbonising of freight transport, as the Invicta is strictly engaged to reduce emissions and protect the environment against the negative impacts of climate change.

Porto is part of the international campaign "Call for Zero-Emission Freight Vehicles" since April last. The Transport Decarbonisation Alliance (TDA), also called a "coalition of the willing" to decarbonise transport, was launched in 2018 and it is part of the 12 commitments made at the One Planet Summit hosted by President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, France in December 2017. It is an exceptional cooperation to fast-track the global transformation of the transport sector towards a net-zero emission mobility system before 2050.

This is the first world summit on climate change impact since the Paris Accord, negotiated in 2015, during the COP21, which refers to Conference of the Parties and to the countries that have signed up to the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Porto City Hall has also signed a statement of intent with various stakeholders, in order to support the initiative and draw attention on the topics of decarbonising of freight transport and increased sustainable mobility.

Moreover, the programme ACT - Action Towards Climate-friendly Transport will also be present at the COP25 - UN Summit Conference, to be held in Santiago de Chile, from 2 to 13 December 2019, where parties will submit a roadmap establishing the process that will lead to the presentation of proposals.
