The Palácio da Bolsa [Stock Exchange Palace], in Porto, has enjoyed a record year for visitor numbers, as circa 376.172 people visited this site last year, and sets a "historic record", according to the Porto Trade Association (ACP).

"It is the highest record ever in the history of Porto Trade association", enthuses Nuno Botelho, President of the ACP in a press statement released by Lusa on 15 April.

Foreign visitors fuelled the surge, with large increases in France, with 82.057 visitors, Spain, with 66.660 visitors, the United States of America, with a total number of visitors of 31.039, and then Portugal, with 30.480 visitors and Germany with 23.623 visitors.

ACP will strengthen the guided tours in the Spanish language as last year the Easter holiday registered a significant increase by Spanish tourists.

The Palácio da Bolsa provides daily guided tours, up to a maximum of 50 people per session. The "Salão Árabe" [Arab Room], located on the first floor of the building is the main attraction of the venue and it was inspired in the Alhambra Palace, located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain.
