Serralves Museum in Porto is among the 100 most visited museums in the world, with 946.932 visitors in 2018. The museum holds the 84th position in the top 100 list, according to data from The Art Newspapers, provided by Lusa.

The Serralves Museum makes it to the list of top 100 most visited museums in the world, in a list that features the Louvre in Paris, number one in the list, with a record number of visitors of 10.2 million visitors, followed by the National Museum of Art in Beijing, China, with 8.6 million visitors and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York, which ranks third place, with 6.9 million visitors.

The architectural plans for the Serralves Museum were first designed in 1991 by architect Álvaro Siza. The current building was inaugurated in 1999, in line with the urban enveloping surroundings and the gardens of the Park and the Villa.?

Visitors to the Serralves Museum can make the most of their visit by discovering the diverse collections of art, artefacts and history, as Serralves Foundation currently holds over 4300 works in its collection, of which more than 1700 belong to Serralves with a further 2600 works from various private and public collections on long-term deposit.

The focus of the Serralves Collection is contemporary art produced from the 1960s to the present day.
