The Water Pavilion, managed by the municipal company Águas do Porto, reopens doors this 4th June, with new rules regarding safety under the ongoing pandemic.

This equipment has been recently renovated and takes on a more interactive role with the community, in a privileged space in Porto, in the City Park, where visitors can learn more about the relationship with the water.

Visits are available by way of a prior appointment, with temperature measurement upon arrival to the facility and the mandatory use of a face mask, when entering the building.

Anti-bacterial gel dispensers are installed throughout the building and maximum visitors' capacity is 20 people. Visits last for 45 minutes and every 15 minutes the space is fully disinfected.

In order to better enjoy the visit, it is advisable to use a guide and an audio guide during the tour. These provide information on 4 languages, including Portuguese sign language, available on the Water Pavilion App.

The Water Pavilion in Porto City Park has been recently extended and renovated; as such, new experience modules have been integrated in the permanent exhibition,

enabling children and adults alike to learn more about water resources management in a playful way.

The Water Pavilion is a small scale project similar to that designed by Alexandre Burmester for the Expo 98, in Lisbon. The same architect was in charge of this renovation works, a total investment of 745 000 euros.

The design of the Water Pavilion aims to rise people attention on the issues of climate change, water scarcity and pollution of the oceans by deploying new technologies, "that just didn't exist twenty years ago", as mentioned by Mayor of Porto Rui Moreira, on the occasion of the opening of the renovated Water Pavilion, on 23 March 2019.

The new timetable in place enables the sanitation of the space; as such, to avoid large gatherings of people, all the same providing agreeable and educational visits to everyone, the Water Pavilion will operate the following timetable: from Thursday to Sunday, between 10am and 6pm, and each session lasts 45 minutes.
