Porto is a top city to live in, says the Quality of Life Index 2019 by Numbeo

Porto is included in the top 100 and the top 40, at world and European level, respectively, as a top city to live in, according to the Quality of Life Index 2019 by Numbeo, regarding the categories of cost of living, property prices, crime rate, health care, pollution, traffic, quality of live and travel.

Numbeo, one of the most relevant collaborative online database, which enables users to share and compare information about the cost of living between countries and cities, published the Quality of Life Index 2019, which ranks the 206 cities worldwide on their quality of living.

Porto makes it to the top 100 best cities in the world, holding the 93rd position in the ranking, and Lisbon is the second Portuguese city in this ranking, holding the 99th position.

The five best cities out of these 206 cities of the five continents are Canberra (Australia), followed by Raleigh (USA), Adelaide (Australia), then Madison (USA) and Wellington (New Zealand).

In Southern Europe, out of 75 entries, Porto ranks 36th, followed by the capital city, Lisbon that ranks 39th. In this region, the top three cities are Zurich (Switzerland), Eindhoven (Holland) and Copenhagen (Denmark), in this order.

Porto and Lisbon surpass cities such as Dublin (Ireland), Barcelona (Spain), London (UK), Paris (France) or Rome (Italy).
