The exhibit themed "Variações sobre uma tradição: Bordados com Poesia" ["Variations on Tradition: Poetry embroidery", free translation] will be on show at Lello Bookstore till 30 June.

The exhibit combines the traditional "love handkerchiefs" and lines of contemporary poetry, to spread a message of love and peace.

The display is sponsored by the Northern Portugal's Regional Directorate of Culture and it is now showcased in Porto, after being part of the 2018 International Book Exhibition of Guadalajara, in México.

The collection includes canvas of "valentine's handkerchiefs", with texts by contemporary authors, namely Herberto Hélder, José Luís Peixoto or Pedro Tamen, which underlie the thematic of love and peace.

Also, the exhibit features an exclusive collection of embroidery with poetry, which is the result of a partnership by the Municipalities of Guimarães, Felgueiras and Ponte da Barca.

Should you be interested, you can purchase three unique handkerchiefs.

"The main goal of such an exhibition is to find new ways of integrating traditional arts by experimenting new ways of doing things", the organisation explained.

Tickets cost 5 euros.
