University of Porto bombards Porto Book fair with over 230 titles

Porto University will "bombard" Porto Book fair with books of all kinds at bargain prices from 1 to 17 September in Palácio de Cristal.

With its own exhibition space (pavilion 26), the University of Porto will present over 230 sponsored titles by U. Porto Editions, by Instituto Marques da Silva, by Casa-Museu Abel Salazar and the Faculties of Architecture, Sports, Engineering and Arts.

There will be something for everyone at excellent prices, with a discount of 10 to 60 percent over the cover prize, and even some additional discounts with the "book of the day" opportunities that will be offered.

The official programme of Porto book fair includes the book launch of "Seaports in the First Global Age", U.Porto Edition by Amélia Polónia and Cátia Antunes. 

The book will be presented at 5.45 pm on 13 September by José Damião Rodrigues, Professor in the Faculty of Arts, University of Lisbon, at Porto Municipal Gallery.

Two days later, at 6.30 pm on 15 September, the Exhibition space of U.Porto will host a signing session by José Moreira de Campos, author of "Mecânica dos Fluidos em Operações Unitárias". 

Porto Book fair 2017 is conducted by Porto city Hall and includes the participation of over 100 exhibitors, namely publishers, booksellers, retailers, and institutions.

This year's edition will pay tribute to Portuguese Poet Sophia de Mello Breyner, whose literary oeuvre will be honoured with a comprehensive cultural programme.

Porto Book fair is a free entrance event, from 12 am to 11 pm, from Monday to Friday. Doors open at 11 am on weekends.

The Book fair closes at 9.30 pm, from Sunday to Thursday and at 11 on Fridays and Saturdays.
