We Are All Ukraine

After a concert in front of the Coliseu do Porto, hundreds of people gathered in front of the Town Hall illuminated in blue and yellow.

This Wednesday, in a symbolic gesture of solidarity, Porto joined the #LightUpUkraine campaign, turning off the lights in the City Hall building and in the Christmas Tree.

Last night, Porto City Hall joined the celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day, by lighting the Council Chambers’ building in blue and yellow, the national colours of the country.

In the week that marks World Refugee Day (June 20), Porto Editora launched, through Infopedia, an essential conversation guide for Ukrainian-Portuguese and Portuguese-Ukrainian created to ease up a first contact between the speakers of these languages.

The Municipality aims to grant all Ukrainian citizens who have arrive to live in Porto, under the temporary protection regime, an Andante intermodal card, for free use of the city’s public transports network.

The delivery of the “Dá Apoio” cards took place at the headquarters of the Seminário Redentorista Cristo Rei, a structure that has concentrated a large part of efforts to welcome and integrate Ukrainian refugees in the region.

In 20 days, six trucks with humanitarian aid to Ukraine have left Porto. It all started on March 8, with the first transport to leave the headquarters of The Battalion of Firefighters of Porto.

Another load of solidarity has left Poto for the Ukrainian People. This Tuesday evening, the fourth truck of goods collected at part of the “We are all Ukraine” campaign left with 16 tons on board.

Until Saturday, March 19th, 14 days since its launch, the website www.somostodosucrania.pt has already received 1.104 accommodation offers and gathered 370 offers for the services exchange.

The third IRR truck left Friday afternoon from the Batalhão de Sapadores Bombeiros (BSB) towards the border with Poland.
