Women's Run raises awareness for breast cancer in Campanhã

The EDP Women's Run takes place on May 20th, with a race track entirely set in the district of Campanhã.

The fundamental aim of the race is to raise awareness on Breast Cancer and promote physical activity in the female population. Eighteen thousand women have already registered, but the goal is to reach twenty two thousand applications, plus two thousand than last year's edition.

This is the 13th edition of this event that was presented yesterday at the Alameda Shopping, the site where the race kits will be handed out per participant.

This is a 5 Km running or trekking course, with start and finish line at Alameda das Antas, next to the Dragão Stadium.

This year, the organisation wants to broaden the visual pink perception, the colour that represents this event, solely open to women of all ages. Among the registered participants the oldest woman is 92 years old and eighteen participants are 80 years old.

Since its first edition, part of the registration values accrues to the IPO Porto and for the Breast Cancer Cause. The organisation was able to raise over 220 thousand euros for this cause.
