The MIP’s 3rd edition, which is coproduced by Porto City Hall, was scheduled to take place in April, but owing to the ongoing pandemic, it inaugurated in the end of October and it extends until the end of the year. The organisations involved in this 3rd edition are: Espacio Jhannia Castro, Espiga, Galeria Adorna, MIRA FORUM, OPPIA, Salut au Monde! and The Cave Photography.
The MIP – Mês da Imagem do Porto, aka in English “The month of Image in Porto”, free translation – is an initiative by the FORUM fotografia/filme PORTO collective of galleries whose goal is to boost the field of photography and video.
The MIP is coproduced by Porto City Hall and it has promoted ten relevant exhibitions, it has seen the launch of three photography books and it has organised talks and workshops. One of such projects was the exhibition themed “Presentes! Africanos e afrodescendentes no Porto”, by the photojournalist José Sérgio, which was on display at the MIRA FORUM. The exhibit was about the ways of living of that African descent community, in contravention of the stereotypes that the city has been immune to the migratory fluxes from the African continent.
