Tradition still remains strong, amid the ongoing pandemic, as the Volta de Paranhos is on, from 2 to 8 December. This will be the 63rd edition of this race, organised by the Sport Comércio e Salgueiros.

This is already the longest uninterruptedly organised road race in Portugal and this year the sports event marks Sport Comércio e Salgueiros 109th anniversary, thus honouring its legacy.

In line with the preventive health measures, the Volta a Paranhos takes to the virtual format and it is open to all athletes and sports people, both from Portugal or abroad.

The event is usually held on 8th December, but under the pandemic context, the Volta Paranhos will be a week-long event, from 2 to 8 December.

Even without its competitive edge, the race organisation challenges each participant to “keep a healthy, supportive and cooperative spirit within the difficult context we are living on”, as enhanced by Gil Almeida, president of Sport Comércio e Salgueiros.

Participants can chose tow modalities: the 10 km race, for people over 18 years of age, or the 5km walk, for all ages.

Applications for the virtual race conclude on 1st December and are open at the Volta a Paranhos official website.
