The U. Porto will offer a new graduate course in the academic year 2021/22 in the area of Computer Engineering and Computing. This new graduate course is jointly organised by the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) and by the Faculty of sciences (FCUP), and the course will be delivered at FEUP. The number of vacancies is 260 in 2021/22.

The University of Porto is preparing to launch a new graduate course in Computer Engineering and Computing - L.EIC - as a result of the pioneer collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) and the Faculty of Sciences (FCUP). This new degree will meet the demand for ICT experts in all sectors of society, as an increasing number of functions and jobs require software expertise, namely computer engineers.

The new course will be delivered at the Engineering campus and offers 260 places through the National Competition for Access to Higher Education, for the academic year 2021/22, to which add 90 places for local competitions (international students, transfer to a different course and institution, students over 23 years old, and other foreseen legal features).

This significant increase in the number of vacancies will enable to strengthen the U. Porto’s position as regards higher education courses in the areas of Computer Engineering and Computing and, thus, meet the needs within the society in such an innovative and fast growing area.

João Cardoso, Director of the Department of Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) believes that this offer will boost the position of the U. Porto in Portugal as a “reference institution in the area of Computer Engineering”.

The co-Director of L.EIC at FEUP, João Pascoal Faria, mentions that “L.EIC is a graduate course that is essentially the result of improvements based on the Master in Computer Engineering, and combines syllabus of the Computer Engineering course and the valences of FEUP and the FCUP”.

Pedro Brandão, co- Director of the L.EIC at the FCUP, believes that “by combining efforts and pedagogical methodologies of both institutions, the L.EIC enables to enhance student’s valences within ICT”.
