Ukrainians arriving Porto will have a free transport pass

The Municipality aims to grant all Ukrainian citizens who have arrive to live in Porto, under the temporary protection regime, an Andante intermodal card, for free use of the city’s public transports network.

“The people of Porto and the city’s associations, heirs of a strong tradition of solidarity, have been expressing, in many ways, their solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the good reception in the city of their war refugees”, starts by framing Rui Moreira.

In the document that he will present the councilmen, the Mayor maintains that “one of the ways to achieve this full reception is to simplify the mobility of Ukrainian citizens refugees in this territory, in order to assist their displacement, to create and establish conditions that allow them to organize their new life in Porto, from looking for a house, looking for a new job, the reorganizing school life and the many activities available to their children, to contacting various entities and organizations that are dedicated to help and support these refugees”.

Thus, the Municipality wants to grant all Ukrainians with a Residence Permit under the temporary protection an Andante card associated with Cartão Porto. holders. The measure covers a six month period and has a maximum municipal investment of 100 thousand euros.

For citizens under the age of 13 and over 18 a contract for the requisition of vouchers will be signed according to the provisions of the Public Contracts Code with TIP – Transportes Intermodais do Porto, ACE, while young Ukrainians between the ages of 13 and 18 will be covered by the Andante Porto.13-18 regime of the Cartão Porto.

Remember that the Municipality of Porto has been running, since the beginning of March a solidarity campaign, that together with Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos, aims to “articulate efforts, bringing together a series of responses and integrated support actions namely in the reception and availability of job offers”.
