The 49 bells of the carillon of the Torre dos Clérigos will ring throughout the month of December, offering Christmas music to the city, every day, at 4 pm. On a birthday, the melody is even more special.

Torre dos Clérigos celebrates today, December 12, its 243rd anniversary, and a program has been prepared to celebrate the monument, which receives around two thousand visits a day, which increase to three thousand on weekends.

This Monday, the highlight is the opening of the Sala dos Legados dos Presidentes, around 6 pm. The exhibition will show the public the assets acquired or donated by the different presidents of Irmandade dos Clérigos, with special focus for a painting of the monument, by the composer of the Portuguese anthem, Alfredo Keil.

Throughout the day there will be a variety of cultural and entertainment activities, including “Nicolau Nasoni” guided tours, a concert with two pipe organs, the birthday mass, and a concert with the Orquestra Nacional de Jovens, scheduled for 9:30 pm, at the Igreja dos Clérigos.

The December agenda also includes several concerts.
