What best way to learn about this landmark monument in Porto than to hear the city’s renowned figures describe it? Starting on 4th March, until 1st August, the Torre dos Clérigos will provide online videos to share the most amazing facts and trivia with wannabe visitors and pretty much everyone interested in history and remembrance of historic times, as well as cultural, artistic, historical, political, technical and architectural heritage.

The kick off video of the initiative themed "Passo a Passo, Encontros com História" [“Step by Step, A date with History”, free translation], is delivered by known historian Joel Cleto. Each 15 minutes episode will be delivered by 10 different hosts. Following Joel Cleto (4th March), there are journalist and historian José Manuel Tedim (18th March), and professor of the Tourism, Heritage and Culture of the University Portucalense, Germano Silva (1st April), just to mention a few.

Access is free and everyone is invited. The videos will be streamed live on Torre dos Clérigos social media (Facebook e Youtube), always at 9.30 pm, on 4th and 18th March, 1st, 15th and 29th April, on 13th and 27th May, and on 10th and 17th June and on 1st August.

This is a new take on how to stay connected with such a relevant monument in town, as doors remain closed, owing to the ongoing pandemic.

In 2017, the Torre dos Clérigos welcomed 145,718 visitors, a visitor's record number. There are other triumphs to be celebrated, namely the "Regional Emblem" title granted by the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission and the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage - Europa Nostra Award.
