Top managers from the world insurance sector come together in Porto

More than 300 top managers from the insurance sector worldwide, met in Porto, for three days. The meeting took place on the occasion of Brokerslink’s annual conference, and this year the main themes under discussion were Geopolitics, Risk Management and Technology in the insurance sector.

The Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, accompanied by the Councilman for Finance, Economic Activities and Inspection and Economy, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Ricardo Valente, was present at the meeting today, highlighting the importance for the city of this kind of meetings, worldwide, as well as the current Executive’s focus on attracting investment and employment.

The over 300 managers who participated in the event come from 60 countries, on five continents, and are responsible for more than 40 billion dollars in bonus – that is, the equivalent of around 20% of the Portuguese GDP.

Among the speakers were José Manuel Fonseca, founder, and chairman of Brokerlink, Andreas Berger, CEO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, Bernardo Pires de Lima, professor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Laurent Freixe, executive vice-president and CEO for Latin America from Nestlé, Steven Braekeveldt, CEO of Groupo Ageas Portugal, and Tim Marshall, journalist, author and broadcaster, expert in Foreign Affairs and International Diplomacy, among others.

According to José Manuel Fonseca, also Global CEO of the MDS Group, host of the conference, “the world is undergoing rapid change”, and “ the global race for natural resources, the clash between political systems, climate change, the digitization of society, cybersecurity, health and aging of populations or emerging risks are some of the subjects that mark the lives of people, companies and States”.

“It is with these risks in mind that we bring together top executives and experts from around the world in Porto, looking for new solutions to mitigate those risks and create a better future for all”, concluded José Manuel Fonseca.
