The public’s vote will serve to deliver the International People’s Choice Award, attributed by the same entity responsible for the coordination of the Green Flag Award, and there are three green spaces in Porto in the running for the award.

Parque da Cidade, Jardim do Passeio Alegre and Jardim Botânico do Porto were once again included in the list of the best green spaces in the world in 2021, according to the evaluation of the Green Flag Award. And, therefore, they are candidates to receive the International People’s Choice Award, given according to the votes of the public.

“Over the last few years parks and green spaces have been especially important for us to walk, exercise, explore, relax and decompress”, highlights the award organisation, adding: “Now it is possible to show our gratitude for the dedication of the staff and volunteers who work to maintain them.”

To participate, you just need to access the individual page of each of the green spaces in Porto that are in the race -Parque da Cidade, Jardim do Passeio Alegre and Jardim Botânico do Porto – and click on “Vote for this site”, on the right side of the page.

The voting deadline is January 31st, and anyone can vote, electing their favourite from more than 2300 parks and gardens that have been awarded the Green Flag Award in 2021. The winners will be announced in a virtual ceremony to be held February 9th .

The Green Flag Award certifies the quality of maintenance and upkeep of parks and gardens around the world and is jointly awarded by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government of the United Kingdom and the non-governmental organisation Keep Britain Tidy.

The International People’s Choice Award aims to identify, among the parks and gardens that have received the award, those that are most appreciated by the visitors.
