WOMEX 2021 will take place in Porto, between 27 and 31 October and some of the artists that will head to the Invicta this autumn have already been announced. The World Music Expo celebrates a wide array of different music genres, with artists from all around the globe conveying their musical traditions combined with the latest artistic innovations.

Following Budapest, in Hungary, Tampere, in Finland, in organising the festival, now it is time for Porto, Portugal to organise this global event. Thousands of music lovers and music makers from over 90 countries will gather in the Invicta, this autumn.

WOMEX first selected artists have been announced. Here are the 26 artists, from 31 countries, selected by the jury: Al Bilali Soudan (Mali), Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy (Ghana), Aragaki Mutsumi (Japan), Bab L'Bluz (Morroco/France), Boi Akih (Indonesia/Pays Bas), Brìghde Chaimbeul (UK), Chalanes Del Amor (Chile/Mexico), Dongyang Gozupa (South Korea), Ebo Krdum (Sudan/Sweden), Echoes of Zoo (Belgium), Ghetto Kumbé (Colombia), Hudaki Village Band (Ukraine), Kosy (Poland), Manou Gallou (Côte d’Ivoire/Belgium), Mateus Aleluia (Brazil), Mazaher (Egipt), Nakibembe Xylophone Troupe (Uganda), Naïssam Jalal & Rhythms of Resistance (Syria/France), Neuza (Cabo Verde), Northern Resonance (Sweden), Pongo (Angola/Portugal), Rangamatir Baul (India), Rodrigo Cuevas (Spain), Sahib Pashazade Duo (Azerbaijan), Sofía Rei (Argentina/USA) and Tolgahan Çoğulu & Sinan Ayyıldız Duo (Turkey).

In addition to the concerts that go hand in hand with the Fair, the event also features conferences, and documentary film screening on music.

The highlight of the event is at Porto Customs, which is to host a set of conferences by representatives of the musical sector. Other venues are Casa da Música, Teatro Rivoli, Coliseu do Porto, Teatro Nacional de São João, Teatro Sá da Bandeira, Hard Club, Cinema Passos Manuel and the Praça de D. João V, as well.

WOMEX 2021 is produced by Piranha Arts, jointly with AMG Music and relies on the support by Porto City hall, via the municipal company Ágora.
