The international environment, the culture of innovation and the high levels of cybersecurity attracted another foreign company to Porto. Visma’s new technology centre will work with 50 people in the first year, but by 2025 it expects to reach two hundred talents.

The technological supplier of “software that simplifies and digitizes the main business processes in both public and private sectors” found in Porto the place capable of “playing a key role in the development of cutting-edge products that reinforce Visma’s competitiveness and leadership in innovation”.

“We chose Porto because of its international, technology-oriented environment. It scores high in both innovation and cybersecurity indices. And with access to the best talent from several universities of technology in the area, we see great potential for future expansion”, believes Merete Hverven, managing director of Visma

In a statement, the company highlights the city as a shelter to a “thriving technologic scenario, with nine universities of technology in the proximities”, being “on the rise to become one Europe’s next great technology hubs, with a growing number of international companies marking their presence in the city”.

From Porto, Visma will develop security software, artificial intelligence, and other technological products, and the prospect is that this new centre will become one of the main competence centres of the company and one of the largest in Europe.

Constituted of more than fourteen thousand people distributed throughout Europe and Latin America, the Visma group recognizes the importance of being able to attract talents in technology. “We are dependent on having talented people on board, which is the main reason why we are truly excited to establish our new technology hub”, assures the managing director.

On the part of Agência Portuguesa de Comércio e Investimento (AICEP), the president, Luís Castro Henriques highlights that “Visma’s investment in the new innovation centre in Porto is a clear demonstration of Portugal’s attractiveness for IT operations, as a result of experienced and highly qualified talent and a vibrant technology-oriented business environment”.
