The University of Porto celebrates its 106th anniversary on March 22

This year the University of Porto is proud to celebrate its 106th anniversary. Established on March 22nd, in 1911, Porto University is commemorating this milestone by inviting students, professors, alumni, prospective students, and friends to engage on the celebration programme that was prepared to mark this occasion.

The university's unique history, its relationship to the city and several generations of families, as well as the impact its faculty members and graduates?past and present?are making in the country and, notably, in the world, will tell the history of the university of Porto.

The University launched a vibrant series of programs and activities, beginning with a Concert in homage to the city and the Region, to be held at Teatro Rivoli (Grand Auditorium Manoel de Oliveira), where the Classical Orchestra of the Faculty of Engineering of U.Porto (FEUP), with the artistic direction of maestro José Eduardo Gomes, will interpret a set of works by Beethoven, J. Sibelius, G. Bizet and Tchaikovsky.

The anniversary programme also includes a full program of events at U.Porto Sports Centre (CDUP-UP), on March 22nd, where UPFit - Faculty of Sport and CDUP-Boa Hora Programme is held, with a series of fitness activities available to everyone in the community and free of charge, namely, bodybuilding, rhythm and dance sessions, yoga, pilates, swimming and water aerobics.

In 2017, the University of Porto celebrates the 106th anniversary of the 1911 founding of the University. 

The highlight of the Celebration is the formal sitting at the Rectorate, where Rector Sebastião Feyo de Azevedo will have the opportunity to recapitulate Porto's long history and launch the next exciting chapter for the University.
