The invention of photography in the nineteenth century and its arrival in Porto

Casa do Infante, in Porto, promotes August 2, a free access lecture on the invention of photography, and its evolution throughout the nineteenth century. An early celebration of World Photography Day, marked August 19. 

The lecture is conducted by researcher Manuel Araújo, from Porto Historical Archives, from 2,30 pm and 5 pm, at Casa do Infante and the session is free but requires previous registration by e-mail casadoinfante@cm-porto.pt or phone number 222 060 423.

The invention of photography is closely connected to Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, also known as one of the fathers of photography, and recognized for his invention of the daguerreotype process of photography in 1837.
