EDP Women's Race is held today and tomorrow, on 22 and 23 May. This is a special edition as it takes to the virtual format, owing to constraints regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. Anyone, anywhere in the world can participate, and have the opportunity to not only have lots of fun while exercising, but also running for a noble goal: fighting breast cancer. Participants of 17 nationalities have already registered.

The women’s race takes to a virtual format, between 22 and 23 May. The organisation estimates that circa five thousand people will enter the virtual race and all will be allowed to define the kilometres they wish to speed. It is recommended that they define a route nearby the streets within their households or in a nearby park, thus avoiding group participation and gatherings.

Currently, registered participants are from countries such as Portugal, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Hungary, Holland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Brazil, United States, New Zealand, Australia, Angola and Mozambique.

Athletes Sara Moreira, Jéssica Augusto and Fernanda Ribeiro, as well as the TV presenter Maya are the four Breast Cancer Ambassadors of the Virtual Women’s Race.

The fundamental aim of the race is to raise awareness on Breast Cancer and to promote physical activity in the female population. Participants will be given a race kit that features the Women’s Race t-shirt, the donation to IPO-Porto, the dorsal race and the participation diploma, which can be downloaded after the event.

As usual, the organisation donates one euro per participation to IPO-Porto.
