Everyone in Porto can easily organise their sports agenda with the Desporto365, the digital platform by the Municipality of Porto. This mobile service brings together the complete sports offer in a digital platform, as regards the city’s equipment, available sports modalities, with updated information on all clubs and entities that devote to physical and sports activities in the city of Porto.

The mobile app will be available, for free, starting on 17 may. The platform Desporto365 was presented today, during the executive meeting, and it is the outcome of a year’s work of identifying and updating all sports activities and services available in the city, from the smallest club association to the largest clubs, including several equipment, as well as all sporting disciplines, per category and per typology.

This service is much more than a Sports Map in a digital format; it is a platform that conveys all the updated sports information in Porto geographic area so that each user can adapt and benefit from services and disciplines according to their preferences and availability, such as age, genre, modality, club and sports area.

This project’ starting point was the “Atlas Desportivo da Cidade do Porto”, which is updated every ten years, its last publication being in October 2009.

“We thought that is was the right time to leave aside the traditional physical support and take advantage of the technological tools that are currently available. With this ambitious step, we were able to make all this information more accessible, more interactive, and easier for everyone to navigate and explore, ensuring that it is permanently updated”, explained Catarina Araújo, councillor for Youth and Sports of Porto City hall.

The desporto365.porto.pt platform is accessible in a website especially created for this purpose. It will be available, starting on 17 May, in a mobile app that is available as a download free from the Apple store or Google Play.

Concurrently, this work is also an important tool for all public decision-makers and sports agents, “be it in current management of their equipment, or in identifying new opportunities and planning future interventions”, clarified Catarina Araújo.

Although in permanent updating, the Platform Desporto365 gathers all the detailed information on the circa 250 entities that devote to sports activities in the city of Porto, as well as the 309 private and municipal equipment that provide, on a daily basis, over 200 sporting disciplines, either amateur or federated.

The objective is to make Porto a city that is ever more open to sports, offering new and better ways to access sporting facilities and engage more people to the practice of sports; as stated by the communication campaign by the app Desporto365, “a city open to sports, every day of the year”.
