The 14th edition of Estádio de Praia returns for three months of competitions with 10 beach sports, in a sports perimeter of excellence in the city, between the "green lung" of Porto, Parque da Cidade, and the International Beach, on the Atlantic front. Parallel entertainment and long days of outdoor sports are promised until sunset.

The summer sports season in Porto kicks off on the first weekend in June, on 3 and 4 June. There will be three months of sporting events, some of which will be opened exclusively in the city, with national and international stages of beach sports as diverse as football, rugby, volleyball, handball, tennis and footvolley, in addition to four newcomers this year: hockey, teqball, 3x3 basketball and crosstraining.

In total, there will be 14 consecutive weekends of beach sports until September 3rd, ending with another new feature: a closing concert, to be announced soon.

As usual, Estádio de Praia is set up next to Edifício Transparente, in a sports perimeter of excellence in the city, right on the Atlantic Front, connected to one of the biggest urban parks in Europe - Parque da Cidade.

"Estádio de Praia is one of the largest seasonal sports structures set up in Porto in the summer. We remain committed to transforming this specific area of the city into a real hub for beach sports events that are differentiating and that encourage outdoor physical exercise among the general public, especially children and young people in the middle of the school holidays," Catarina Araújo highlights, councillor for Youth and Sport of the Porto City Council.

Estádio de Praia's sporting calendar

The official start of Estádio de Praia will be on the first weekend of June, on the 3rd and 4th, with the Beach Soccer Elite Championship, organised by Associação Futebol do Porto.

In the first month there will also be the Porto Futevólei Open (on the 10th and 11th ), Porto Beach Rugby (on 14th to 18th) and the National Beach Volleyball Championship (on 23rd to 25th).

July begins with two tournaments of new sports: on June 1st and 2nd there will be a Beach Hockey competition, and on June 8th and 9th it will be Beach Teqball, a kind of table tennis played on a curved surface with a ball similar to a football, which can be touched by any part of the body except the hands.

From the 20th to 23rd and from 27th to 30th June, the fourth and fifth stages of And'Praia, the national sand handball circuit, will take place. In between (on the 15th and 16th) there will be another round of the Elite Beach Soccer Championship.

August arrives with another first. On the 5th and 6th, the Portuense round of the National Circuit 3x3 (basketball) will take place. This will be followed by three beach football competitions organised by the Portuguese Football Federation: on the 12th and 13th the final phase of the Women's National Championship will be played, on the 14th and 15th the final stage of the Men's Under-19 Championship and between the 17th and 20th the Men's Seniors National Cup. The month ends with Porto Beach Tennis, on the weekend of the 26th and 27th.

Another new discipline on the summer sporting calendar, cross-training, is on its way to the end, with the debut of the Porto Beach Games on September 2nd and 3rd.

There is also in this edition of the Beach Stadium, and in accordance with the Porto Climate Pact, an effort to mitigate the impact of the ecological footprint with the provision of differentiated waste collection stations, placement of water supply points and the reuse of promotional materials in the post-event period.

Estádio de Praia is an initiative of the Porto City Hall, implemented by the municipal company Ágora. Admission to all events is free of charge.
