STCP- Porto Bus Company, enforces service supply on working days, starting today, 24 May. The company stated in a news release that the high demand enforces this measure, as the usual number of passengers that travel by bus is returning to similar numbers before the pandemic, as a result of the easing of the lockdown measures.

The strengthening of 12 lines reflects a 106% increase in the services for the so called “usual timetable”, during a minimum period of 70 working days, “as these are the times when there is a greater number of passengers seeking to travel by bus”, as stated by the company.

The 12 lines included in this measure are: Line 200 (Bolhão-Cast. Queijo), Line 205 (Campanhã-Cast. Queijo), Line 703 (Cordoaria-Sonhos), Line 201 (Aliados-Viso), Line 207 (Campanhã-Mercado da Foz), Line 800 (Bolhão-Gondomar), Line 203 (Marquês-Cast. Queijo), Line 208 (Aliados-Aldoar), Line 801 (Cordoaria- S. Pedro da Cova), Line 204 (Hosp. S. João-Foz), Line 305 (Cordoaria-Hosp. S. João) and Line 907 (Boavista-Vila D’Este).

On weekends and during school breaks this measure is not implemented, and it will be in place following the summer vacations, resuming, therefor in September and October, and will be in force until the end of 2021.

Line 600 will also be enhanced with a greater number of seat availability, and it will be carried out using articulated vehicles, on working days and during the daily shifts.

STCP also announced that this operation is carried out under the financing granted by the protocol signed between the AMP - Área Metropolitana do Porto and the Fundo Ambiental, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Action (Decree n. 10846-A/2020). This financing represents a financial strain of circa 750 mil euros.

All new timetables will be provided on bus tops, as well as in the company’s website.
