Shanghai places Porto University sports among the best

China once again distinguishes the performance of the University of Porto. The most recent “Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Sport Science Schools and Departments” highlights Faculdade de Desporto (FADEUP) as the 43rd best university in the world in the field of sport science.

Notícias UP underlines the fact that the Faculdade de Desporto is among the first 50 worldwide, but also that it is “the only Portuguese representation on the best 100 (…) leading the national ranking of sport schools”, and the “fourth best in the Ibero-American space”.

The evaluation of the Shanghai ranking is based on criteria such as scientific articles indexed in the Web of Science, total of quotations, quotes per article, articles published in academic publications with major impact and percentage of articles published in collaboration with foreign institutions.

Each year, more than 400 courses from over four hundred institutions around the world are assessed.

In August, the index “Academic Ranking of World Universities”, created by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, had already placed U.Porto in the range of the 301-400 best, among the more than 2000 academic institutions worldwide that were analysed.
