ScaleUp Porto Strategy at the Web Summit

The Porto City Hall, in partnership with the UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of the University of Porto and Porto Design Factory, of the Polytechnic of Porto, is present at the Web Summit, to be held from 7 to 10 November in Lisbon, promoting the ScaleUp Porto strategy.

Together with Porto City Hall are Gema Digital, MOG Technologies and Impacting Digital, three city scaleups, making this a meeting point for Porto's entrepreneurial and innovation ecosystem and positioning the Municipality as an opportunity facilitator.

This is central to community liaison, strengthening the position of the ecosystem and highlighting Porto as a unique city for the development of new business projects. The Municipality leads the dynamic and commitment to technology and to innovation as drivers for the development of the city and the region.

The ScaleUp Porto strategy (presented in the Manifesto launched in December 2015) is an instrument to promote the potential of cities as catalysts for business growth, driving innovative projects to a global scale. The participation in the Web Summit seeks to involve the community by fostering new contacts and business. This is one of the pillars of the ScaleUp Porto strategy, in which Porto affirms itself as a living laboratory, where everyone can play na active role in creating sustainable ecosystems of entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Manifesto also focus on creating a global network and expand to other cities in Europe, thus using the ScaleUp for Europe strategy as a link to other global communities and ecosystems.

The first edition of the Start & Scale Guide will be presented at the Web Summit; it is a document that links the city to startups and scaleups, an example of the city's buoyancy.
