The University Hospital Centre of São João (CHUSJ) has implemented an innovative and automatic system to send SMS to people tested for CoVid-19 and whose test showed negative.

When the lab validates the negative result, it is automatically sent to the person tested with the following message "We inform that the results of the COVID-19 sample, tested at the CHUSJ showed NEGATIVE".

According to Fernando Araújo, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CHUSJ, "this is na innovative solution that frees human resources to doing other tasks, avoids mistakes and makes communications swifter, thus reducing the reducing anxiety felt by people that are waiting for results and reassuring citizens".

When the patient is discharged from the EU, he is handed information with the recommendations on how to proceed in the household.

The CHUSJ recommends that whenever the result is negative and the person tested is already in quarantine, the person should remain in quarantine the remainder of the time; if the person displays any symptoms, he/she must keep isolated from other people in the household until he/she is completely recovered (no respiratory symptoms and no fever).

If the test shows positive, the doctor will call every person and will assess the most suitable clinical approach to each person.

The patients that remain in their households, with the suitable clinical and social data, are periodically contacted by the medical staff of the CHUSJ, to evaluate the situation and to schedule new sampling, whenever appropriate and to confirm recovery.
