Porto City Hall has concluded the first phase of the restoration of the fountains d'Art of Emil David Garden, at Palácio de Cristal.

Already in 1865 the city of Porto has established itself as a city turned to progress and newness, when building the Palácio de Cristal with its magnificent gardens, embellished by Mathurin Moreau's Fonts d'art, which is the French expression for art pieces in cast iron.

Today, it is imperative to restore the fountains after many years of deterioration and grave disrepair.

After the fall of an Araucaria (Araucaria Heterophylla) in 2001, the fountain on the west side suffered a great deal of damage and this has contributed to the iron rusting.

By regenerating the appearance of the Fonts d'Art at Palácio de Cristal, the City Hall is preserving the cultural heritage and the transmission of skills and expertise to future generations.
