On the date that marks the International Day for the fight against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, the rainbow flag will be hoisted, on a mast to be installed for this purpose in Praça General Humberto Delgado, in front of the Council Chambers Building.

In this way, Porto City Hall corresponds to what was requested by Porto Pride, by the organization of the LGBT + Music Festival, Plan i Association and by VARIAÇÕES - Associação de Comércio e Turismo LGBTI+ de Portugal (VARIATIONS - LGBT+ Commerce and Tourism Association of Portugal). “What the organizations asked us was if we would authorize the installation of a mast. We said that not only did we authorize it, but we would place the mast on”, highlighted Rui Moreira, in response to councilman Sérgio Aires, from BE, proponent of the recommendation “Porto City free of homophobia, transphobia and biphobia”.

The text was discussed in the period before the agenda for the public meeting of the Executive on Monday, and voted on point by point, three of which were unanimously approved: preparing the city to join the Rainbow Cities Network; host a meeting, on the 17th of May, with the members of the Advisory board for the LGBTQIA+ issues active in the city of Porto, with a view to marking the day, if such a meeting is requested; and strive, through its several policies, for the Municipality of Porto to be a city free from LGBTQIA+ violence.
