QS World University Rankings by Subject highlights the University of Porto among the best worldwide

With the best performance ever in the "QS World University Rankings by Subject", the University of Porto ranks among the 300 best in the world in 24 of the 46 subject areas included in the ranking.

The University of Porto ranks 48 (out of 100) among the best in Sports areas.

As in previous editions, the University of Porto ranks 151 (out of 200) in the field of Engineering and Technology and Mechanical Engineering. 

Regarding areas such as Computer Science and Information Systems or Electrical Engineering, The University of Porto ranks 201 (out of 250).

In the subjects related to Architecture and Modern Languages, the University of Porto holds position 201, out of 250, and in Archaeology, Art and Design and Linguistics, the University ranks 151 out of 200, 151 out of 200 and 251 out of 300, respectively.

Quacquarelli Symonds- QS, has been producing authoritative, independent and global rankings since 2004 and continues to be the leader on higher education institutions ranking and evaluation all around the globe.

The QS World University Rankings by Subject distinguishes the world's top universities in several domains, covering 46 subjects. It also includes five rankings for broad subject areas: Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences & Management.

The objective of this ranking is to provide a global comparison of universities worldwide in order to help international students' decision making process.

The rankings are based on four key pillars: research, teaching, employability, and internationalization and methodology is built on the following indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty and international students.
