From London to Tokyo, two photo exhibitions devoted to the punk universe are on display at the Casa Comum, in the Rectory. The exhibits are entrance free and can be visited until 31 August.

If you head to the Rectory building, more precisely to the Casa Comum you will be welcomed by two exhibitions that document Punk aesthetics with circa 60 photos from New York and Tokyo that picture the type of art punks enjoy an is normally associated with underground, minimalist, iconoclastic and satirical sensibilities.

The exhibit “Up yours | Tokyo punk & japanarchy” is the outcome of a five years long research work from the Japanese capital and “Sub Culture Club | Documenting street in London, Los Angels & Tokyo” is rather revealing on how these communities in such cities as London, Los Angeles and New York experienced this music genre and form of expression, in ter4ms of fashion, literature, art and film.

The exhibitions are on display at the Casa Comum (Reitoria) of the University of Porto. Entrance is free.
