The municipality of Porto will be present at MIPIM for the third time. Europe's largest real estate investment exhibition starts March 15th in the French city of Cannes.

This year, Porto will position itself as a "Global Business Hub for the 21st Century", bringing to Cannes what will be Porto's largest presence ever at this event. Amongst the many activities prepared by the Municipality, the debate by the Mayor of Porto about the city's post-covid strategies stands out.

The world is experiencing a process of transformation and cities are no exception. The pandemic disrupted urban centres, raising many issues and challenges that are crucial for designing strategies to create sustainable, inclusive and resilient cities, such as the growing population pressure, social inequalities, climate change and the need for affordable housing.

At the conference “Leading Urban Transformation in Post-Pademic Times”, the Mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, together with the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, will discuss the strategies, ecosystem and expectations for the two largest cities in Portugal.

The discussion will be guided by the premise that in order to envisage the future of human existence, we need to think about cities. During the conference, Rui Moreira will underline the economic development and FDI attraction strategy of Porto, for which the city was recently awarded third place in Financial Times' fDi ranking of mid-sized European cities of the future.

Another highlight will be the presence of Rui Moreira as of one of the roundtable leaders at MIPIM’s Political Leader's Summit, a meeting of leading politicians and global decision-makers from around the world.

At MIPIM 2022, Porto will showcase the city to global investors, bringing a group of 16 local companies and a portfolio of more than 75 real estate projects in Porto ranging from residential and office developments to hospitality, retail and urban rehabilitation projects.

Abreu Advogados, Adriparte, Avenue, Civilria, Geo Investimentos, Finangeste, HA+, Lionesa Business Hub, Mercant Properties, Mota-Engil Real Estate, Nota Urbana, Predibisa, Promiris, Ribemon Partners, Virtual Tour 360, VPM Real Estate are the 16 companies that Porto will take to MIPIM to show Porto's thriving real estate market and the city’s business friendly attitude.

In the wake of the pandemic, Porto's presence at MIPIM with such cross-sectoral dimension highlights the strategic importance of international policy and external relations for the development of the city.
