The 5th edition of Porto Academy kicks off 20 July. This event is promoted by Casa da Arquitectura and the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP).

Summer School 2017 will run until 27 July throughout the city, including Rivoli Theatre, Faculty of Economy (FEP), Campinas District and the Faculty of Architecture.

The highlights of this edition are conferences by Japanese Ryue Nishizawa, awarded with the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2010, who will lecture in Rivoli, 20 July at 7.00 pm; Chilean Smiljan Radic will lecture in FEP, 26 July, at 7.00 pm.

Both conferences are open to the public and the admission fee is 5 euros.

Porto Academy gathers 250 architects and students of architecture of different nationalities.

Renowned guests will attend this event in Porto, namely Aristides Antonas from Greece, Floris de Bruyn from Belgium, Gabrielle Hächler & Andreas Fuhrimann and Oliver Lütjens & Thomas Padmanabhan from Switzerland, Guillermo López, Irene Pérez and Jaume Mayol from Spain, Job Floris from The Netherlands, Johan Celsing from Sweeden, Louis Leger from France, Márcio Kogan from Barzil, Pedro Bandeira from Portugal and Tom de Paor from Ireland, and many more.

The Campinas District will host a self-building lab, in the context of the "Please Share!" Programme sponsored by Porto City Hall, from July 28 to 11 August at Pedro Bandeira Architecture Studio.

This lab will be coordinated by architects Roberto Cremascoli, Nicolò Galeazzi and Ivo Poças Martins and proposes building an infrastructure to service the community of that municipal neighbourhood.

Summer School ends 27 July with the final presentation of work done by participants.
