The attractiveness of the city of Porto has once again won the World Travel Awards. After being voted Europe's Leading City Break Destination in 2023, the Invicta has once again been awarded by the 'Tourism Oscars' in the European competition, this time as 'Europe's Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination 2024'.

This is the first time that Porto wins the award in this category, proving its plurality and once again consolidating the city among the elite of best European destinations. Porto competed in this category (Europe's Leading Seaside Metropolitan Destination) alongside cities such as Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Lisbon, the Attica region and Venice.

For the Councillor for Tourism and Internationalisation, 'this acknowledgement highlights the quality and diversity of Porto as a tourist destination, rewarding also the excellence of an increasingly attractive and inclusive seafront, an area of great scenic beauty where the city meets the sea, ideal for everyone's enjoyment'.

Catarina Santos Cunha also stresses that this acknowledgement of the city is 'completely in line with the Municipality's vision, which is committed to decentralising and exploring different city blocks for greater balance and sustainability of the territory'.

The 31st edition of the awards ceremony in Berlin brought together the sector's main decision-makers, leading figures and influencers, as well as specialised media.

The World Travel Awards cover the entire spectrum of the travel and tourism industry, from hotels, resorts and destinations to airlines and tour operators around the world, and are recognised globally as a brand of excellence.

The city had already been honoured by the 'Tourism Oscars' in 2022 as 'Europe's Leading City Destination' and, in the world competition, as 'World's Leading City Destination'.
