As of 6 January, Porto subway will add two new tube trains to its fleet; these new carriages have longitudinal seats, which will enable greater traffic fluidity and passenger accommodation.

These improvements were announced last week by Tiago Braga, Chair of the Administration Board of Metro do Porto, during the ceremony that marked the 70 million passengers of the company in 2019.

"These improvements will enable greater passenger accommodation capacity, as well as traffic fluidity and less downtime", declared Tiago Braga to Lusa Agency.

The redesign of the inner tubes also add to the network expansion, as Porto Metro will increase its track length in 7km and 7 new stations, until 2030. Also, 18 more tube carriages will be purchased in the coming years.
